Sotec now has a SkypePhone, the SKP-001, distributed by COMFIX in Japan. As you can see, this wireless SkypePhone uses a USB dongle. It measures 18x75x10mm, and has 1200 hours of autonomy in standby mode and 15 hours in talking mode.

Vonage introduces their "V-Phone".
Service is kind of expensive compared to Skype's free service. So why not just use Skype instead ? Am I missing something ?

It uses DECT 6.0, which operates on a wireless frequency that doesn't interfere with WiFi and Bluetooth. It also supports four handsets, has a 150 foot indoor and 900 foot outdoor range, speakerphone, caller ID, Skype phonebook, and Windows 2000/XP support.

Dutch Philips Electronics said on Thursday it would introduce the world's first cordless DECT phone that can make Skype Internet calls without being connected to a personal computer.
The product will be available before the end of the year, Philips chief of consumer electronics activities, Rudy Provoost, told journalists at the IFA electronics fair here.

Today, USRobotics announced its newest Skypified pair of products, the USR9630 Cordless Dual Phone and the USR9631 Accessory Handset. The dual phone, as the name implies, plugs into a USB port and a landline and can make and receive both Skype and traditional phone calls. The base station, which comes with one handset, goes for $120, and an additional handset will set you back $70. (Mac support would be coming in Q1 2007)

The Belkin WiFi Skype phone looks remarkably similar in design to the Netgear model that was the undoubted star of Skype's recent hardware showcase in London.
